A place that can be safely called the pearl of the Polissia region. The location is able to impress everyone with its landscapes, rich nature, and the possibility of organizing excellent leisure activities, including a campsite. Nobel attracts tourists from all over Ukraine, as well as fishing enthusiasts. The clean water and sandy shores attract all beach lovers. Many tourists and locals in particular call the area where the lake is located a real Amazon. The surroundings of the location are characterized by silence, the absence of a large number of people, and transport.
Description of Lake Nobel
The first written mention of this object is noted in the Ipatiev Chronicle (one of the oldest Russian chronicle sources) and dates back to 1158. It should be noted that the reservoir is located in a village with a long and very rich history. In 1520, the Nobel Prize-winning Four Gospels was written here. Perhaps this fact allows us to call Lake Nobel a place of power. It should be noted that ethnographers and folklorists come here to record folk songs and ancient rituals.
At the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, the settlement was completely destroyed by Tatar invaders and subsequently fell into decay. Today, the village's population barely reaches 300 people. It has a functioning school, a community center, a library, a medical center, and all the infrastructure necessary for normal life. It should be noted that the village council of Nobel is subordinated, in particular, to several small coastal hamlets, such as Didivka, Kotyr, and the hamlet of Mlyn (located a little further in the forest).
During the reign of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Nobel was a full-fledged city, which was a center of trade and culture for a long time. The location has always been considered a special feature of the site - on a spit, among the lake, as well as its incredible natural wealth. In a sense, the area was in many ways reminiscent of the princely capital of Lithuania at the time, the city of Trakai, which is why it attracted the attention of rulers from neighboring states.
The body of water is divided into two small parts from north to south by a picturesque peninsula on which the village of Nobel is located. The larger part of the lake is elongated, while the smaller part is oval. The depression is characterized by irregular heart-shaped contours. There are several miniature islands in the middle of the lake. The area is mostly free of residential buildings and industrial facilities, so it is quiet around.

Characteristics of Lake Nobel
The length of the lake reaches 3200 meters, width is not more than 2500 meters. The total area of the water surface reaches 600 hectares. In some places the depth of the reservoir exceeds 17 meters, and the average depth is 7 meters. The water is fresh, relatively clear with transparency within 2 meters. The bottom and shoreline of the lake are of sandy origin. It is fed by the Pripyat River, which flows into the eastern part of the reservoir. In the winter season at minus temperatures, Nobel almost completely freezes. The location is a place where wild ducks, geese and other feathered inhabitants come for nesting. Habitual inhabitants of the reservoir are considered to be crucian carp, perch, catfish and crayfish.
Interesting facts
Since ancient times, the lake served as a kind of shield for the settlement of Nobel, while feeding its inhabitants with fish and crayfish. Nowadays it is a favorite place for fishing connoisseurs. The village, where the reservoir is located, is famous for its rich history and centuries-old traditions. Interestingly, since 2003, on the initiative of the writer Grigory Shton, the village annually hosts the All-Ukrainian festival of humor “Nobel Prize Laureate”, the symbol of which is a beautiful big catfish. It is important to add that the location belongs to the Pripyat-Stohod National Nature Park.
Infrastructure and things to do?
The lake will delight all fishing enthusiasts. It is better to come with the necessary gear. If necessary, they can be rented on site. Near Nobel, in the forests, you can see no less picturesque lakes, including Nihovitske, Omyt, and Zasvitske. They are distinguished by their dunes and glycerine waters. In addition, it is easy to find porcini mushrooms, blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries in season on the islands and in the forested strip of the coastline. Many people prefer to come here to organize a tent camp, to have a spiritual and relaxing vacation.
You can eat near the lake or in one of the local complexes, hotels or roadside cafes. Good restaurants can be found within half an hour by car. Among the most interesting options is the Park Café in Rivne, which has a bar serving pizza, various soups, Ukrainian and Eastern European cuisine. An excellent solution would be to visit the Bender restaurant, where you can order breakfast, lunch and dinner and have a refreshment at very affordable prices. Special attention should be paid to the Kolyba complex, which is able to surprise not only with the dishes offered, but also with a homely atmosphere and high-quality service.
Among the most interesting options for overnight stays is the Rybatskyi Khutor in Kotyra. The complex is located almost on the shore of the lake and has a well-groomed area with playgrounds and swings. It is open all year round. Another equally worthwhile option is the complex “Fish and Chizh LLC” with large wooden log cottages, balconies overlooking the lake, forest, necessary furniture, all amenities, and a kitchen.
